50 Cent has sued a movie producer over the release of an upcoming film. Skillhouse, a horror flick starring the rapper, is set to be released in July to launch a new platform called GenTV, but the G-Unit founder claims he never signed a deal with the producers.

In a legal filing on April 24th, 50 attempted to block the release of Skillhouse and is seeking $5 million in damages against Ryan Kavanaugh. 50 says he joined the movie after agreeing to the basic terms of a deal, expecting they would reach a final agreement and sign a contract, having looked past Kavanaugh’s controversial past.

According to TMZ, 50 Cent says that despite never inking a deal, Kavanaugh used the rapper’s name, image, voice, and likeness in promotional materials, describing him as a star and producer.

50 claims he would never sign on to Skillhouse without including his creative input to meet his standards. He says he hasn’t been paid anything for his services and image rights concerning the film.

Earlier this month, 50 shared several Instagram posts expressing his views about Skillhouse’s release and threatened to take action. “This guy Ryan Kavanaugh is doing everything in his power to make me kill this movie,” he said in a since-deleted post. “This one is going in the trash CAN!”

Following news of the lawsuit, 50 took to social media to address the situation. “I didn’t get paid,” he wrote on Instagram. “I’m afraid I’m gonna need that by Monday. You already know the vibes!

Skillhouse is based around a fictional content house where 10 influencers face deadly social media challenges. It’s directed and written by Josh Stolberg and stars Bryce Hall, Neal McDonough, HannaH Stocking, Paige VanZant, and Emily Mei.
