50 Cent has nothing but love and admiration for his longtime friend and mentor Eminem, especially now that the rap icon is entering a new chapter in life — becoming a grandfather.
In a recent interview with PEOPLE magazine, 50 Cent shared heartfelt words about Eminem’s next role in life and why he’ll be “the greatest grandfather.”
“Oh man, he’ll be the greatest grandfather,” said 50. “That grandkid is gonna say, ‘My granddaddy is still cool. My granddad is cool.’”
50 Cent went on to reflect on the impact Eminem has had on his life and career, comparing him to the grandparents who helped raise him.
“I compared him to my grandparents only because my grandmother raised me. I put Em in that space. When people help you when you can’t help yourself, it resonates the strongest, and Em put me on. So he’s my guy forever. I don’t care.”
He also praised Eminem’s unmatched work ethic and dedication to music, noting that while 50 expanded into film and TV, Eminem never left the studio.
“He’s still in that pocket. He’s still doing the same thing, still drilling it, still number one, still highest selling. He can still do it. He can still hold it. That’s because he never stopped.”
This touching moment came as 50 Cent gears up for his first-ever Las Vegas concert residency, titled “50 Cent: In Da Club.” But even as he celebrates his own milestone, he’s making sure to give flowers to the man who helped shape his career.
