The Voice Cut Week Sends 15 Singers Home as Fans Debate the Coaches’ Choices and Name One Artist a Possible Season Winner

The Voice Season 30 began its first-ever Cut Week on November 2, forcing coaches Adam Levine, Kelly Clarkson, Queen Latifah and Riley Green to make some of their toughest decisions yet. The special round is the biggest elimination stage in the show’s history, with each coach reducing their team of seven artists to just three.

Each coach selected two artists to advance directly to the Top 13 Live Shows, based on their performances throughout the competition. The remaining five artists on each team performed again, giving their coach one final chance to choose another singer to advance.

The 16 artists who were not selected by their coaches will have another opportunity through America’s vote, with one singer earning the final spot in the Top 13. The Live Shows begin November 9.

Team Queen Latifah

Queen Latifah chose Mia Knight and BigCountry as her two artists to advance directly to the Live Shows. The remaining contestants performed “Use Me” by Bryan Jaymes, “Space Oddity” by Destinee Monroe, “For the First Time” by Alt Bloom, “Friday I’m in Love” by Lillie Kolich and “Killing Me Softly” by Chari.

Queen praised all five singers for their unique qualities and said she was proud to watch their growth throughout the competition. She ultimately selected Lillie Kolich, explaining that the singer had something special that could bring a unique sound to her team.

Team Adam Levine

Adam Levine sent Lexi Stephens and Connor Closs directly to the Live Shows. The remaining artists performed “Midnight Train to Georgia” by Evan James, “Hemorrhage (In My Hands)” by Dakota Cohen, “Electric Feel” by Owen Uffens, “A Thousand Miles” by Amanda Mikkel and “Dare You to Move” by Brandon Diaz.

Adam admitted that choosing one singer was difficult because the decision could have gone either way. In the end, he decided to pick a female rock singer, saying there were not enough women bringing that style to the competition this season.

His choice was Dakota Cohen.

The remaining artists performed “4x4xU” by Allie Rae, “Killin’ Time” by Everett Bounds, “Will You Love Me Tomorrow” by Keiyana Osmond, “Walking After Midnight” by Kayleigh Mathews and “Don’t Close Your Eyes” by Joe Henley.

Riley praised the artists for their different strengths and said he had enjoyed getting to know each of them. His final decision came down to a performance and song choice that impressed him.

Riley ultimately selected Joe Henley, giving the Alabama singer another chance to compete for the Season 30 title.

Kelly admitted that the decision was difficult and said she wanted to make it quickly rather than prolong the moment. She ultimately chose Brianna Cameron, praising the 13-year-old singer for showing her something she had never seen before.

Kelly also described Brianna as a “little onion,” referring to the many layers of talent she continued to reveal.
