Alan Jackson’s Heartfelt “Here In The Real World” at Opry 100 Leaves Fans in Tears

The Opry 100 celebration was a big party with almost 40 famous country music stars, and most of them are part of the special Opry family. One of those stars was Alan Jackson.

Alan Jackson first sang at the Grand Ole Opry in 1990. He performed a song called “Here In The Real World,” which was from his very first album. A year later, in 1991, he was asked to join the Opry as a member.

Two big country stars, Roy Acuff and Randy Travis, welcomed Alan into the Opry family that year.

Right after he joined, Alan went on a TV show called Nashville Now. He talked to the host, Charlie Chase, about how it felt. Alan said, “It’s hard to believe that 6 years ago I was carrying mail in a bucket every day for just $5 an hour.” He told Charlie how happy he was to be part of the Opry. “It’s a big honor. I’m really proud because the Opry is so important. I don’t think country music would be here without it.”

Alan also said he almost cried when he joined because he was so excited. He thought about all the famous singers who stood on the same stage, like Roy Acuff and Hank Williams. “That stage is special because it’s from the old Ryman Auditorium. So many big names have been there. It feels amazing to be part of that history,” he said.
