Lainey Wilson, a popular country music singer and the ACM’s Entertainer of the Year, recently spoke about people who say unkind things about her body on social media. During an interview with Josh Smith on the Reign with Josh Smith podcast, she shared her thoughts with a mix of humor and honesty.
When asked if she had a message for those leaving mean comments, Lainey laughed and said, “Kiss my big butt!” She was joking but also showing she’s not afraid to stand up for herself.
In 2022, Lainey became even more famous after her album Bell Bottom Country won a GRAMMY award. Around that time, a video of her on TikTok got a lot of attention because of her body. At first, she thought it was funny. But then people kept talking about it, and some of their words weren’t nice.
“I read too many comments about myself,” Lainey said. “I tell stories through my music because words matter. Even if you don’t believe the mean things people say, seeing them can still hurt a little.”
Dealing with the Pain
Lainey tried to ignore the negative comments, but it wasn’t always easy. “Sometimes, social media made it hard for me to keep going,” she explained. “So I decided to stop looking at those comments. It’s been tough, but I’m trying.”
Even though it’s been hard, Lainey stays strong. With her fun personality, she added, “Some people act mean because they didn’t learn how to be kind when they were young.”
Lainey’s story reminds us that words can hurt, but we can choose to focus on what makes us happy and keep being ourselves.
