Freddie Mercury performs Love Of My Life with Brian May in unearthed Queen live footage

A long time ago, in the 1970s and 1980s, two friends named Freddie and Brian May sang a special song together when they performed with their band Queen. Recently, Queen shared an old video of them singing this song live, and it’s really cool to watch!

The video is from two big concerts where more than 400,000 people came to see them. One of the best parts was when they played a beautiful song called “Love of My Life.” It was a favorite for everyone there.

The band wrote on the video: “This song first came out in 1975 on an album called A Night at the Opera. It had lots of amazing singing parts. But when they played it live at Rock in Rio, it was different and exciting. Brian changed it to play on a twelve-string guitar, and he sang it with Freddie like a team.”

Brian once said in an interview that this song became super popular when they played in South America. “We were so surprised,” he said. “The crowd didn’t just know the song—they sang it so loud and with so much feeling that it made us cry!”

The video note also said: “At Rock in Rio, Brian asked the crowd, ‘Do you want to sing with us?’ and they shouted back so loud! Freddie acted like a leader for a big choir, guiding all the people singing. He smiled, bowed, and blew kisses. When he sang lines like ‘When I grow older, I will be there at your side,’ it felt extra special because, looking back, we know those were some of the last times Freddie would sing live with Queen.”

That night at Rock in Rio, Queen was amazing and made the huge crowd so happy. After they finished, Brian cheered, “You did great! You sing really well!” It was a magical moment for everyone.
