Kanye West has once again stirred the pot — this time accusing the music industry of trying to erase his legacy by artificially propping up Kendrick Lamar as his replacement.
In a wild new rant posted to X (formerly Twitter), Ye claimed with full confidence that the industry is “strategically” using Kendrick to overwrite everything he’s built: “They are trying to replace what I did with n****s that won’t even be remembered 100 years from now. I’m BY FAAAAR the most important artist of our lifetime.”
This outburst follows weeks of online back-and-forths and interviews where Kanye’s stance on Kendrick keeps shifting — praising him one day, slamming him the next. While he once called Kendrick’s Super Bowl performance his favorite “since the Michael Jackson era,” he’s now flipping the script, claiming Kendrick is only where he is due to industry favoritism and inflated numbers.
West also referenced alleged bot usage boosting views for Kendrick and SZA’s “Luther” video — the same video that’s currently holding the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 and blocking Drake’s rise. Kanye says he’s seen this game before: “When I dropped Graduation, I had the whole building behind me too. That’s the way this profession is.”
And he didn’t stop there — he blasted the Grammys and Super Bowl, saying everyone who works with them can “suck my d**k foreevvveeeerrr.”
West’s rant has reignited debates about gatekeeping in hip-hop, legacy vs. relevance, and whether Kanye’s views reflect bitter truth or just plain bitterness.
