Cardi B is known for interacting with her fans online and responding to her critics alike. That said, after a woman recently commented on her body, the ‘Bodak Yellow’ rapper decided to fire back.

While reacting to a TikToker, Cardi unveiled that she had the injections in her bottom removed at the beginning of 2024. She detailed how, during her last pregnancy, she gained 25 lbs, which naturally gave her her curves back. She insisted that after suffering for seven months with postpartum depression, she has definitely not had any new plastic surgery.

The Invasion of Privacy creator has grown increasingly frustrated with fans telling her that she perpetuates unrealistic beauty standards by flaunting her cosmetic surgery. In an Instagram post, she recently highlighted the hypocrisy by drawing people’s attention to how men never face the same judgment as women in hip-hop. She insisted that rap music desires a particular type of woman, but shames them for making the alterations they speak about.

Taking to Instagram, Cardi wrote, “Fun fact… I actually took butt shots out January 2024, Fun fact I gained 25 pounds while I was pregnant, and most of that went to my butt and his, fun fact I gave birth 7 months ago … Why is never man talking bout women bodies is always you weird ass females.”

She continued, “And no, I haven’t gotten surgery … Y’all always talk about girls getting on the table then turn around and make you wanna lay on one, but God forbid I talk about how y’all look.”

Before Cardi B broke into the mainstream with ‘Bodak Yellow’ in 2017, she had been very open about her various cosmetic surgeries, such as her veneers and breast augmentation. However, she seems to have pivoted away from this in recent years.

Cardi’s latest comments shone a light on some of the unaddressed hypocrisy that plagues hip-hop concerning women and how female rappers look. The rapper asserted that she is desperate to end the toxic beauty narratives that exist in the culture in favour of more embracing narratives.
