Denton celebrates American Idol finalist Breanna Nix with parade and concert as she prepares for season finale

Denton, Texas, rolled out the red carpet for hometown hero Breanna Nix on Wednesday, May 14, celebrating her remarkable journey to the Top 3 of American Idol Season 23. The 25-year-old singer and stay-at-home mom returned to a hero’s welcome, complete with a festive parade and a free concert in the heart of downtown.

The celebration began at 4:30 p.m. with a lively parade circling the historic Denton Square. Fans lined the streets, waving signs and cheering as Nix passed by in an open-top convertible. Local businesses joined in the festivities, offering themed treats and discounts in honor of the city’s rising star.

Following the parade, the excitement continued with a free concert at 7:00 p.m. in front of the Discover Denton Visitor Center. Nix took the stage to perform for her hometown supporters, expressing heartfelt gratitude for their unwavering encouragement throughout her American Idol journey.

Nix’s path to the Top 3 has been marked by powerful performances and personal resilience. Her rendition of Carrie Underwood’s “Jesus, Take the Wheel” earned her a Golden Ticket, and she continued to impress with songs by Whitney Houston and Rascal Flatts. Notably, her emotional performance of “Tell Your Heart To Beat Again” moved mentor Jelly Roll to tears.

Beyond her vocal talent, Nix’s personal story has resonated with many. After the birth of her son Emerson, she embarked on a transformative journey, losing over 160 pounds to become a healthier role model. Her authenticity and strength have inspired fans nationwide.

As Nix prepares for the American Idol finale airing Sunday, May 18, at 7 p.m. on ABC, Denton stands united in support, celebrating not just her musical achievements but the inspiring journey that brought her home.
