Bob Dylan’s Electrifying Outlaw Music Festival Performance Stuns with Rare “Just Like Tom Thumb’s Blues”

On May 20, 2025, Bob Dylan delivered a memorable performance at the Ford Idaho Center Amphitheater in Nampa, Idaho, as part of Willie Nelson’s Outlaw Music Festival Tour. The evening was marked by a significant moment: Dylan’s first non-instrumental rendition of “Just Like Tom Thumb’s Blues” since 2014. This performance was a highlight in a setlist that showcased Dylan’s willingness to revisit and reinterpret his extensive catalog.

The concert began with “Gotta Serve Somebody,” marking its debut in Dylan’s 2025 tour setlists. The set continued with classics like “Simple Twist of Fate” and “Forgetful Heart,” as well as a cover of George “Wild Child” Butler’s “Axe and the Wind.” The inclusion of “Just Like Tom Thumb’s Blues” was particularly noteworthy, as it was the first time Dylan performed the song with vocals since July 15, 2014, in Sweden. In previous years, he had only presented it instrumentally.
