WWE fans got an unexpected treat when Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson made his entrance at SmackDown with a remix of Lil Wayne’s classic hit, “Tha Block is Hot.”
Instead of his usual theme music, Johnson walked out to the 1999 Lil Wayne track, with his entrance video featuring New Orleans-inspired visuals. The special moment was in honor of his big announcement—WrestleMania 42 will take place in New Orleans next year!

The Rock Explains His Tribute to Lil Wayne
At a press conference after SmackDown, Johnson shared why he chose Lil Wayne’s track for his entrance music.
“I’ve always been a big fan of Lil Wayne and Louisiana hip-hop. Master P, Juvenile, Birdman, the whole 504. Those are my guys. Growing up in Miami and South Florida, those were my influences.”
He continued:
“Since we’re bringing WrestleMania to New Orleans, I wanted to show love and respect to the OGs. This is Lil Wayne’s city, and ‘Tha Block is Hot’ felt like the perfect choice.”
Lil Wayne’s Connection to WWE
Lil Wayne himself is no stranger to WWE. He performed at WrestleMania last year, rapping “A Milli” while walking out with Johnson’s cousin, Jey Uso.
Hip-hop legends frequently make appearances at WWE events. Snoop Dogg has been involved in multiple WrestleManias, even delivering The Rock’s signature move, The People’s Elbow, at WrestleMania 39.
With WrestleMania 42 set for New Orleans, it’s clear that hip-hop and wrestling continue to collide in exciting ways!
