On December 31, 1999, the Bee Gees—brothers Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb—performed a special concert in Miami, Florida, to welcome the year 2000. The show, called BG2K: An Evening With the Bee Gees, took place in Sunrise, Miami, and was shown on TV across the United States. Even though there aren’t many recordings of the concert, some fans found short clips and shared them online.
In one video from the PBS broadcast, the Bee Gees sing their famous song “You Should Be Dancing,” and the crowd loves it! They also perform another hit, “Alone.” A lucky fan who was at the concert shared their excitement online, saying, “I saw all three brothers in person that night! It was so special, and I’ll never forget it. I love the Bee Gees!”
At the time, the Bee Gees were working on a new album in their studio in South Beach, Miami. They planned to release it in February 2000, but it came out later in 2001 and was called This Is Where I Came In.
The year 1999 was a big one for the Bee Gees. They finished their One Night Only tour in Sydney, Australia, on March 27. The tour started as just one show at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas in 1997, but it was so popular that they kept performing around the world. They visited places like Dublin, London, Buenos Aires, Pretoria, and Auckland. They also recorded a live album from those concerts, which fans still enjoy today.
The Bee Gees’ music and energy made their New Year’s Eve concert in Miami a night to remember, bringing joy to everyone who watched them ring in the new millennium!
