Cat Stevens Stuns Glastonbury with Flawless “Wild World” as Crowd Sings Along 53 Years Later

The Glastonbury festival in 2023 was full of big rock bands like Arctic Monkeys, Guns N’ Roses, Queens of the Stone Age, and Blondie. They played loud music on the main stages. But one special singer, Cat Stevens, brought a different sound. He played his famous song “Wild World” with just his guitar and a small band, making everyone feel calm and happy. Over 1 million people have watched it on YouTube!

Cat Stevens, who also goes by the name Yusuf Islam, stood on the big Pyramid Stage with his guitar and a few singers behind him. It was Sunday afternoon, and his peaceful music was just what the crowd needed. The fans didn’t fall asleep—they sang along loudly with him! It was amazing to hear thousands of people sing words he wrote 53 years ago.

People were surprised because Cat’s voice sounded just like it did when “Wild World” came out in 1970. Even young fans knew every word, showing how his songs stay special for all ages. On his website, Cat said, “Seeing 100,000 happy faces at Glastonbury was like a dream. The love I felt was so warm and wonderful. Our hearts were together in that moment. Thank you to everyone there!”

Cat played 21 songs, including big hits like “The First Cut Is The Deepest,” “Moonshadow,” and “Morning Has Broken.” He also sang “Here Comes The Sun” by The Beatles to honor George Harrison, who inspired him a long time ago. Cat, now 75, said it was a song about finding light and hope.

Cat started making music in 1967, right when The Beatles were finishing. His first big album, “Tea for the Tillerman,” came out in 1970 with “Wild World” on it. He made new music almost every year in the 1970s. Then, in 1978, he stopped because he became Muslim and felt tired of the music world.

At Glastonbury 2023, Cat Stevens brought back the 1960s with his guitar and happy songs. The crowd sang “Wild World” so loud it was magical, even with his backup singers on stage. Young and old fans joined in, proving his music never gets old. With 1 million views online, it’s clear his songs stick with people forever. And guess what? His voice still sounds the same as it did 53 years ago!
