They love Australia and the feeling is mutual.
But when Irish supergroup Celtic Thunder arrived in Sydney for their tour, the band were one man down after Dublin airport officials refused to let guitarist Keith Harkin travel with a crack in his passport picture.
Fellow guitarist Neil Byrne told The Daily Telegraph: ‘We were in Dublin airport and noticed that they were taking a really long time with Keith (Harkin),’ he explained.
‘It turned out his passport had a crack through his photo, and they wouldn’t let him through.
‘He had to get an emergency passport, then he’ll be here in time for the shows starting.’
The Irish singing group known for its eclectic, theatrical style show are touring Australia with their Legacy show this month.
Joining the Legacy Australian tour is special guest Damian McGinty, an original member of Celtic Thunder who went on to win The Glee Project before landing a recurring role (as Rory Flanagan) in global hit series Glee.
Since its inception, Celtic Thunder has wowed audiences bringing a new twist to an eclectic repertoire ranging from traditional Irish and folk music to adult contemporary, rock and classical crossover.
Described as Billboard’s Top World Music Artist, Celtic Thunder is a household name and have even performed for President Obama at the White House.
Celtic Thunder will be performing in WA on 5 May, at Perth Arena on May 7, in Adelaide 14 May, Victoria 15 May and NSW on 17 May.
