Chris Stapleton and Brandi Carlile sang an amazing version of “Hunger Strike” at a special concert called I Am the Highway: A Tribute to Chris Cornell. They did it to honor Chris Cornell, a famous singer who had passed away, and their performance was full of feeling and strong voices.
The concert happened on January 16, 2019, at a big place in Los Angeles called The Forum. Lots of other famous singers and bands were there too, like Metallica, Foo Fighters, Miley Cyrus, and people who used to play with Chris in his bands Soundgarden, Audioslave, and Temple of the Dog. Chris Stapleton sang with a rough, deep voice that felt real, and Brandi Carlile added her beautiful, clear singing. Together, they sounded a little like Eddie Vedder and Chris Cornell, making everyone in the crowd feel shivers.
For people who loved Chris’s music growing up, this wasn’t just a song—it was like a trip back in time that made them happy and sad all at once. Brandi’s voice was so perfect that the Soundgarden band picked her special for this song. If Chris Cornell could have seen it, he probably would have cried because it was so touching.
