CLIVE ANDERSON has re-addressed the moment the Bee Gees famously walked off his show after he made several jokes about them in an interview

Clive Anderson, a TV host who is now 67, recently talked about a big mistake he made back in 1997. He was interviewing the Bee Gees, a famous band made up of three brothers—Barry, Robin, and Maurice—on his show called All Talk on BBC One. Clive made some jokes about the band, but they didn’t like them, and it ended with all three brothers walking off the show.

Clive told Express.co.uk that the interview started out great but turned bad fast. He said it went “from the best to the worst in a few minutes.” Looking back, he admits he didn’t handle it well.

During the interview, which happened over 20 years ago, Clive poked fun at the Bee Gees a few times. Early on, he said Barry’s high singing voice sounded like Mickey Mouse. He also called them “hit writers” but then joked they were missing a letter—like saying “hit” should be “hint.” Later, he said he thought they were sisters, not brothers.

The band laughed at first, but then Clive made a joke about one of their songs, “Don’t Forget To Remember.” He laughed and said, “I forgot about that one.” That was the last straw for Barry. He stood up, called Clive a rude name, and left. Robin and Maurice followed him out, leaving Clive alone to end the show awkwardly.

Thinking about it now, Clive said, “I think I got that one wrong. You can tell because they didn’t stay long.” He also talked about interviewing musicians in general. He thinks they’re fun to talk to because they’ve had exciting lives—some grew up with little money, became super rich, faced big problems, and then bounced back again.

Even though the Bee Gees interview didn’t go well, Clive learned from it, and it’s still a famous moment people remember!
