In a twist as surprising as it is heartfelt, Ozzy Osbourne has unveiled his very first public art sale — five abstract paintings crafted in collaboration with chimpanzees from the Save the Chimps sanctuary.
Yes, the “Prince of Darkness” has traded heavy metal riffs for paintbrushes, joining forces with rescued chimps to create vibrant, expressive works of art. Every penny raised will benefit Save the Chimps, a Florida-based sanctuary that cares for more than 220 chimpanzees retired from laboratories, roadside attractions, and the entertainment industry.
The works, presented by Omega Auctions, are now open for bidding and remain live until July 17. With only five signed canvases available — each named after one of Ozzy’s legendary tracks — collectors and music fans are already battling to secure a piece of rock history.
A Personal New Chapter
This is the first time Ozzy has ever put his artwork up for sale — and it carries deep emotional weight for him.
“I’ve never sold my paintings before,” he admitted. “But this project means something. These chimps have been through hell. If my name, my music, or even my brush can help raise money for their care, then I’m all in.”
The collaboration came about after Ozzy learned of the sanctuary’s work through friends in the animal welfare world. Conversations about creativity, survival, and healing inspired the project — themes close to both Ozzy’s journey and the mission of Save the Chimps.
Man and Ape on the Canvas
The process was truly collaborative. Caretakers at the sanctuary supplied safe, non-toxic paints to the chimps, who have long displayed creative instincts. Their colorful, instinctive brushstrokes provided the base for each piece.
Ozzy then added his own layers — symbols, markings, and abstract touches guided by both the chimps’ movements and the spirit of his iconic songs.
The five paintings are titled:
-
“Crazy Train”
-
“Bark at the Moon”
-
“No More Tears”
-
“War Pigs”
-
“Dreamer”
Each piece is signed, professionally framed, and comes with a certificate of authenticity, as well as a short film capturing the unusual collaboration — from the chimps joyfully smearing color across canvas to Ozzy putting on the finishing strokes in his home studio.
A Shared Story of Survival
Save the Chimps is among the world’s largest sanctuaries for chimpanzees, offering them freedom on vast island habitats after lifetimes of hardship. Many survived medical testing or years of solitary confinement. Today, they roam, socialize, and heal among their own.
“These chimps have been through the darkness — like me,” Ozzy quipped. “But they made it through. That’s what this art is about: chaos, survival, beauty, and second chances.”
Molly Polidoroff, Executive Director of Save the Chimps, praised the project:
“Ozzy’s generosity is extraordinary. These paintings carry a raw, primal energy. They tell stories without words — and they help us continue ours.”
How to Bid
The auction is now underway at OmegaAuctions.co.uk and closes at 5 PM BST on July 17. With just five pieces available, each starting at a modest reserve, experts anticipate fierce competition given Ozzy’s global following and the rarity of the works.
Art With a Roar
For music fans, collectors, and animal advocates alike, this is more than an auction — it’s a chance to own a fragment of Ozzy’s artistic soul while helping give chimpanzees a future free of suffering.
As Ozzy summed it up:
“Music has always been my voice. But this time, I let the chimps speak too. Bid high. Let’s give them the life they deserve.”
