How Eminem Made a Lifelong Impact: Alex Beulke’s Inspiring Make-A-Wish Story
In 2019, Australian teen Alex Beulke had the chance of a lifetime—meeting Eminem backstage before his concert in Melbourne, thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Now, Alex is sharing her unforgettable experience to inspire others and raise awareness about the power of Make-A-Wish moments.
A Dream Come True Backstage with Eminem
Alex and her mother arrived in style, riding a limo to the venue and going straight backstage to meet Marshall Mathers. What Alex thought would be a quick five-minute hello turned into a half-hour conversation with the rap superstar.
“He was a little bit shy, but I got to spend half an hour with him. I just expected five minutes,” Alex said.
Eminem gave Alex a huge gift bag filled with merchandise, signed anything she wanted, and took photos with her—making sure the moment was truly special.
A Personal Conversation with a Rap Legend
During the meet-and-greet, Alex asked Eminem about his favorite songs, and he replied: “Lose Yourself” and “Mockingbird”, explaining how they hold deep meaning for his daughters. She also asked who his favorite collaborators were, and he named Royce da 5’9” and Dr. Dre.
But it wasn’t just about her asking questions—Eminem asked about Alex too, showing genuine interest in her music taste. He was impressed when she told him she had recently attended a Phil Collins concert, noting her diverse music preferences.
Alex even shared how Eminem was shocked to hear that the Melbourne Cricket Ground could hold 100,000 people, with about 80,000 expected for his show. Later that night, he told the crowd, “This is the most amount of people I’ve ever seen in one area.”
A Memory That Lasts Forever
For Alex, the experience was more than just a fan moment. It became a powerful memory that continues to bring her joy today.
“Even to this day, thinking about it makes me smile… it was a phenomenal experience and something I’ll never forget.”
Since then, Alex has survived cancer twice and now works as a Make-A-Wish volunteer, using her story to help others understand the life-changing impact of the foundation.
