Eminem gave fans an unforgettable moment with a surprise appearance at the “Live From Detroit: The Concert at Michigan Central” on June 6, 2024.
After performances from Diana Ross, Big Sean, and others, the 51-year-old rapper shocked the audience by taking the stage at the end of the event. Bill Ford, executive chair of Ford, introduced him, calling him a legend and global ambassador for Detroit.
Dressed in a gray hoodie and basketball cap, Eminem performed several songs, including his new track “Houdini,” as well as:

With the Detroit Symphony Orchestra behind him and pyrotechnics lighting up the stage, the performance was both powerful and visually stunning. The event ended with a firework show, making it even more special.
A Night Full of Stars & Special Guests
Eminem wasn’t the only big name at the event. The concert featured artists like Jack White, Common, Fantasia, the Clark Sisters, Kierra Sheard, and more. There were also appearances from celebrities like Mike Epps, Sophia Bush, and Detroit Lions legends Barry Sanders, Jared Goff, and Amon-Ra St. Brown.
Eminem’s family came out to support him, with his daughter Hailie Jade (28) and her husband Evan McClintock in the crowd, along with his other children Alaina Marie (31) and Stevie Laine (22).
The Meaning Behind the Event
The concert celebrated the grand reopening of the Michigan Central Station, which had been closed since 1988. Ford bought the building in 2018 and spent six years restoring it into a tech and culture hub for Detroit.
Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan called the event a symbol of Detroit’s resilience and bright future, saying it was about more than preserving the past—it’s about creating new opportunities for the city and its people.
With an incredible lineup, a surprise Eminem performance, and a historic celebration, this night was one for the books!
