Kanye West is stirring the pot once again — this time calling out Kendrick Lamar over his guest features on Playboi Carti’s new album Music, released on March 14.
Ye took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his thoughts on the project, praising a few songs like “Crank” and “I Seeeeee You Baby Boi”, but had harsh words for Kendrick Lamar’s contributions.
“I DON’T LIKE KENDRICK LAMAR’S MUSIC,” Kanye wrote bluntly.
“HE RAPS VERY GOOD BUT I DIDN’T NEED TO HEAR HIM ON CARTI’S ALBUM.”
Kanye Fans React — And He Reposts Them
After making the bold statement, Kanye reposted some of his followers who agreed with him. One fan said:
“YOU’RE THE REALEST NGGA ON EARTH. ON MY SOUL. I BEEN SAYING THIS SHT BRO.”
Another added:
“FIRST GOOD TAKE IN A MIN LMAOO.”
Did Kanye Produce “Good Credit”?
There were rumors swirling that Kanye produced Kendrick’s track “Good Credit” on the album, but a representative for Playboi Carti told Variety that Kanye was not involved in the production or creation of the song.
A Change of Tune? Kanye Praised Kendrick Just Last Month
Interestingly, Kanye’s criticism comes shortly after he praised Kendrick’s Super Bowl Halftime Show performance in February, calling it one of the best in decades.
“It was my favorite halftime show since the Michael Jackson era,” Ye said at the time.
“When they did [‘HUMBLE’], the way that people’s heads were moving, I was shook. The man’s voice control, all that — super fresh.”
He also dismissed critics who downplayed the show, saying:
“Everybody I talked to in real life said this was the best halftime show.”
A History Between Ye and K. Dot
Kanye and Kendrick previously collaborated on “No More Parties in LA” back in 2016, a standout track from The Life of Pablo. Kanye also claimed at the time that he had around 40 unreleased songs with Kendrick — though none have surfaced since.
With Ye’s latest comments, it’s clear that the relationship between the two rap titans may be colder than fans thought.
