Lizzo knows how to handle a misunderstanding — and how to drop unexpected music bombshells. In a whirlwind week, the Grammy-winning singer hopped on a livestream to get clarity from Yung Miami about a recent comment on her weight — and also opened up about nearly forming a rock band with SZA.
🎥 Lizzo Calls Yung Miami to Clarify “Ew” Comment
It all started during Yung Miami’s appearance on Club Shay Shay with Shannon Sharpe, where the former City Girls rapper was discussing pressure around women’s bodies and plastic surgery.
Using Lizzo as an example, Miami said:
“Everybody was all, ‘Oh my God, she’s so fat!’ She looks so good now, and now it’s like, ‘Oh my God, ew! She need to stop!’ Pick a side.”
Lizzo wasn’t sure what Miami meant by the “ew”, so she called her directly on a livestream to clear it up.
Miami clarified:
“Before you lost the weight, people would be like she should lose weight… that’s what I was talking about.”
Lizzo, laughing, said:
“I thought you were saying I was too little.”
Miami went on to explain the double standard:
“You can’t make nobody happy. They always got something to say when it comes to women’s bodies.”
The convo ended positively, with both women on the same page, highlighting the toxic expectations society places on female bodies.
🎸 Lizzo & SZA Almost Formed a Rock Band Called “Pussy Lasers”
In a separate Twitch stream on Valentine’s Day, Lizzo revealed that she and SZA almost formed a rock band called… wait for it… Pussy Lasers.
Yes, really.
The idea came up while they were working on “F2F,” SZA’s grungy, guitar-driven track from her 2022 SOS album. Lizzo said:
“We had this little period where we were linking in the studio… One night we were gonna start a rock band. I won’t name the third artist because I don’t know if she wants to be mentioned.”
“F2F” was originally created for the group, but after SZA freestyled the whole song on the spot, Lizzo knew it belonged on SOS.
“She ate that shit. At the end of it, I was like, ‘That’s the song.’”
While Pussy Lasers never officially launched, fans are now begging for that collab to happen.
