Ma$e is officially making a comeback — and he’s doing it with bold timing.
The former Bad Boy rapper announced that he’ll release his first album in more than two decades on May 25, which he claims will be the same day Diddy’s sex trafficking trial begins.
During an episode of his talk show It Is What It Is, Ma$e revealed the surprise news while wearing headphones and listening to his new music.
“I’m listening to the songs that [Cam’ron] picked out of the stuff I made… It’s gonna be crazy. We had to pick the right records. I let him pick the right records,” he said.
When guest co-host Maurice Clarett asked when the album would drop, Ma$e responded with a smirk:
“May 25th. The first day of the Diddy trial. We’re dropping. You like that? You made me put it out there.”
He then revealed that the upcoming project will be a triple-disc album, adding, “Now we even.”
Interestingly, Diddy’s trial is currently scheduled to begin on May 5, not May 25 — so it’s unclear whether Ma$e will adjust the release date or stick to it for symbolic reasons.
Ma$e’s First Album Since 2004’s Welcome Back
This project will be Ma$e’s first studio album since 2004’s Welcome Back and his first full-length release since his 2009 mixtape I Do The Impossible. While he didn’t share the album title yet, anticipation is high given the years-long gap since his last major release.
Ma$e has had a few appearances in recent years, including a feature on G.O.O.D. Music’s Cruel Summer compilation in 2012, and in 2022, he claimed he was signing to Death Row Records, following Snoop Dogg’s acquisition of the label.
Ma$e Throws More Shade at Diddy
Ma$e’s decision to drop his album on the day of Diddy’s trial isn’t random — it’s part of a long history of tension between the two former collaborators.
After Diddy’s homes were raided by federal agents in 2023 (leading to his indictment on sex trafficking and racketeering charges), Ma$e didn’t hide his reaction. On It Is What It Is, he joked:
“Reparations is getting closer and closer!”
When co-host Cam’ron pointed out that the raid happened on the anniversary of Biggie’s Life After Death album, Ma$e responded:
“It’s amazing that all of this would transpire on that day. That’s eerie, man! That’s crazy.”
He also hinted that he’s saving deeper commentary for a future documentary.
“If y’all wondering how I feel, it’s coming soon — pause,” he teased.
