Mick Jagger, Rolling Stones Members, & Metallica Pay Tribute to Late U.K. Singer/Actress Marianne Faithfull

Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ronnie Wood from the Rolling Stones, along with the band Metallica, recently said some nice things about Marianne Faithfull, a famous British singer and actress who passed away on January 30 at age 78.

Marianne became a big star in the U.K. back in 1964 when she sang a song called “As Tears Go By,” which climbed into the Top 10 charts. This song was one of the first ones Mick Jagger and Keith Richards wrote together, with a little help from their manager, Andrew Loog Oldham, who also discovered Marianne. Later, the Rolling Stones sang their own version of the song, and it became a hit for them too.

In 1966, Marianne left her husband, John Dunbar, and started dating Mick Jagger. They were a couple until 1970, and during that time, she inspired some of the Rolling Stones’ most famous songs, like “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” and “Wild Horses.”

Marianne also helped write a song called “Sister Morphine” with Mick and Keith. She sang it first in 1969, and then the Rolling Stones made their own version for their 1970 album, Sticky Fingers.

Her friends in the music world are remembering her for all the great things she did and the beautiful music she helped create!
