Neil Young Shakes Up Toronto with a Historic, Intimate Performance

Neil Young, a famous rock star, and his band Crazy Horse put on a super fun private concert at a place called The Rivoli in Toronto. They played to celebrate the 50th birthday of Dani Reiss, the boss of a company called Canada Goose. Neil sang all the songs from his 1990 album Ragged Glory, which is something he’s only done one other time in his whole career!

Only 200 people were invited, so it felt really special. Fans who follow Neil on his website, Thrasher’s Wheat, said he played almost every song from the album, except one called Mother Earth. At the end, he sang some of his most popular songs like Cinnamon Girl and Rockin’ In The Free World, which got everyone excited.

The concert was extra cool because Neil played some songs he hadn’t sung in a long time—like White Line and Farmer John, which he last did way back in 1976 and 2012. Another band called the Arkells played too, but Neil went on stage first.

This wasn’t the first time Neil did a private show. He once played in Paris for a rich businessperson. What’s funny is that Neil has a song called This Note’s For You where he says he doesn’t like big companies controlling music. Even so, he sold half of his songs to a company in 2021.

Some people talked about Canada Goose because they used to use coyote fur in their jackets, which upset an animal group called PETA. But the company stopped doing that in 2021, so it’s not an issue anymore.

Now, Neil is getting ready for a big tour called Love Earth after not touring for three years. He’ll play outside, and fans are wondering if he’ll bring Crazy Horse or another band called Promise of the Real—or maybe just play by himself. Either way, it’s going to be a blast for everyone who loves his music!
