On Wednesday, something exciting happened at the Grand Ole Opry during a big TV special called Opry 100: A Live Celebration. Post Malone stepped up to sing with Ashley McBryde because Jelly Roll couldn’t make it. They sang an old song called “Jackson,” made famous by Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash, and they totally rocked it!

Ashley McBryde has a strong, classic country voice, and Post Malone added his deep, rough sound. Together, they sounded awesome and made a moment everyone at the Opry will remember. They sang, “I’m goin’ to Jackson/ And that’s a fact/ Yeah, we’re goin’ to Jackson/ Ain’t never comin’ back.” When they finished, Post Malone took off his hat, bowed, and gave Ashley a big hug while the crowd clapped and cheered super loud.

The song “Jackson” was written by two people named Billy Edd Wheeler and Jerry Leiber a long time ago. Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash sang it in 1967 and turned it into a huge hit. They even won a special music award called a GRAMMY in 1968 for being the best country duo. Later, actors Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon sang it in a movie about Johnny Cash called Walk the Line.

This performance was extra special because Johnny and June first met backstage at the Opry in 1956. They fell in love and became one of country music’s most famous couples. Singing their song at the Opry felt like a big way to honor them.

The Opry 100: A Live Celebration happened at two famous places—the Grand Ole Opry House and the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. It was all about celebrating 100 years of the Opry, a super important part of country music. Tons of big stars like Alan Jackson, Carrie Underwood, Garth Brooks, Vince Gill, and many more sang and shared special moments to show how much the Opry means to them.

Post Malone jumping in for Jelly Roll made the night even more fun, and his duet with Ashley McBryde was a perfect way to celebrate country music’s big history!
