Everyone is super excited about Keith Urban’s upcoming concert in Duluth! While I was working on a blog about my five favorite Keith Urban songs, I stumbled across some really old videos of him. These clips show how he grew up to become the amazing performer we know today. Here are three fun videos I found:
Keith Urban Singing Dolly Parton’s “Applejack”
This video says it’s from 1978, which would make Keith just 11 years old! We’re not totally sure about the date, but you can still tell it’s him because of how he moves while playing his guitar. Even as a kid, he looked comfortable on stage. He’s wearing a funny outfit in this one—maybe he’ll bring it back for the Duluth show!
Keith Urban Singing an Air Supply Song on TV
In this video from 1983, Keith is 16 years old and performing on a television show. The host says Keith dreamed of being a radio announcer when he grew up. Well, he dreamed even bigger than that! He sings “All Out of Love” by Air Supply, which is a soft, lovey-dovey song—kind of a funny pick for a teenager. The judges weren’t super nice to him, but he was young and learning. Now, he’s a huge star, so he definitely proved them wrong!
Keith Urban Singing “Got It Bad” at 23
This clip is from a show called Hey, Hey It’s Saturday, and Keith is 23 years old here. His bright blonde hair is so eye-catching it almost takes over the video! He sings his own song called “Got It Bad,” and at the end, he tries to hit a really high note. It’s fun to watch him go for it and see how much confidence he had even back then.
These old videos show Keith Urban growing from a kid with a guitar into the superstar he is now. It’s cool to see how he started, and it makes me even more excited for his Duluth concert!
