GloRilla is one of the most prominent young female rappers in the mainstream at the moment and the perfect person to record Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty theme song. That said, during a recent photo shoot for the brand, Rihanna decided to surprise the Memphis emcee with a FaceTime call.
Rihanna is a fan of GloRilla, and the musicians have a mutual respect for one another. Now, in a recent clip posted to social media by Hollywood Unlocked, fans get to see the moment GloRilla received the video call of a lifetime from one of her biggest inspirations.
During the call, Rihanna complimented Glo on her outfit and highlighted how beautiful she looked, and the two exchanged pleasantries. The ‘Umbrella’ vocalist then joked to GloRilla that she should DM her if she’s not having fun at any point so that the Super Bowl performer can fire whoever’s responsible.
Rihanna also emphasised how much she loved GloRilla’s Memphis accent. More specifically, the Fenty founder expressed how much she loved the way Glo pronounced “Beauty” as “Beurty.” The entire exchange between the two stars was charming and wholesome to watch.
The respect GloRilla and RiRi have for each other seems to be greater than the relationship Rihanna has with other artists, and many believe that their bond may be more profound than just music. In 2023, headlines about the pair’s similar facial features began to circulate online, prompting many to question whether they were related. However, it transpired that they are not.
The ‘Pon De Replay’ singer also declared how much love she had for GloRilla’s song ‘TGIF’ and even rapped a few lyrics, at which point A$AP Rocky entered the call, insisting that he was “too old” to know about new hip-hop songs. However, lots of fans could relate to Rihanna as the track was one of GloRilla’s most popular songs from 2024.
The ‘Diamonds’ hitmaker asked GloRilla when her forthcoming album would be released, but fans were quick to point out that the popstar herself has been teasing a ninth project for over five years. It’s been almost a decade since ANTI came out, but fans hope the long wait will result in a chart-topping album.
