“Sing For The Moment” Comes to Life

During the event, Eminem—who was inducted this year—performed his 2002 hit “Sing For The Moment.” The song features a sample from Aerosmith’s classic “Dream On,” so it was only fitting that Steven Tyler himself joined in to sing the famous hook.

Adding to the magic, Ed Sheeran also took the stage, playing guitar and singing the chorus from Eminem’s 2000 song “Stan” (which originally sampled Dido’s “Thank You”).

Eminem’s Heartfelt Speech

In his acceptance speech, Eminem thanked a long list of artists who inspired him—mostly hip-hop legends like Ice Cube, Ice-T, and Cypress Hill. He even said:

“I hope they’ll be considered for induction in the future, because without them, a lot of us wouldn’t be here. I know I wouldn’t.”

A Rapper in the Rock Hall?

Eminem also acknowledged how unusual it was for a rapper to be honored in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, saying:

“I’m probably not supposed to be here tonight, because I’m a rapper, and this is the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.”

But with only a few rappers inducted so far, Eminem’s inclusion proves hip-hop’s lasting impact on music history.
