SZA is gearing up to hit the road with Kendrick Lamar, and she’s already soaking up valuable lessons from the rap icon — even before the tour begins.

During her recent appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show (March 21), the Grammy-winning singer shared a game-changing performance tip Kendrick gave her that’s transformed her stage presence.

“One time he gave me the pointer of pretending to watch myself from above,” SZA revealed. “He sees himself while he’s performing. That actually changed a lot for me… I started invoking a completely different energy and spirit within myself.”

She jokingly added, “He’s also a Gemini, so you never know. He’s already split in half.”

The highly anticipated Grand National Tour kicks off April 19 in Minneapolis, MN, and runs through June 18 in Landover, MD. The tour will stop in major cities like Houston, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Chicago, and both artists’ hometowns — Kendrick’s Los Angeles and SZA’s St. Louis. It even includes a stop in Toronto, home of Kendrick’s rap rival Drake, adding even more buzz to the tour.

A Joint Album with Kendrick? SZA Says She’s Ready

Earlier this year, SZA also said she’s open to collaborating on a full joint album with Kendrick Lamar. Appearing on The Sherri Shepherd Show, she responded enthusiastically to the idea:

“I would love that,” she said, as the audience erupted in applause. “He’s such a genius… I don’t know what’s going on as much as you don’t know what’s going on.”

SZA explained that Kendrick has been a big influence on her artistic journey, especially during what she calls her “fumbling and finding” era.

“I’m just trusting all of his expertise and being thrust into these moments. He’s so good at saying yes and staying grounded, so I’m just like, ‘Teach me, Sensei.’”

With a powerful tour on the horizon and fans dreaming of a joint album, the chemistry between SZA and Kendrick is undeniable — and something fans can’t wait to experience live.
