Taylor Momsen of The Pretty Reckless recently praised AC/DC’s live performance capabilities. She shared her thoughts on touring with the legendary rock band in an interview with Loudwire.
Momsen’s comments focused on her experience witnessing AC/DC’s nightly performances while The Pretty Reckless served as their opening act on tour.
“I know they invented rock and roll, I know they’re one of the inventors of this, but to see it every night, it punches you in the face,” Momsen said.
The Pretty Reckless frontwoman went on to express her admiration for the band’s live show quality.
“I think they might be the greatest live band of all time,” she continued. “They’re insane and so I feel so honored and blessed to be out with them and to have such a great rapport.”
Momsen also highlighted the personal connection formed during the tour experience.
“I think we’ve made a lifelong connection here,” she said. “They’re just the greatest people and they are what rock and roll is meant to be. This has been a dream come true.”
The tour experience proved to be more positive than Momsen initially anticipated, given the reputation of AC/DC’s dedicated fanbase.
Before joining the tour, Alternative Nation revealed that industry insiders and friends warned Momsen that AC/DC’s fanbase is notoriously tough on opening acts. They suggested she might get booed offstage. However, she was pleasantly surprised by the crowd’s reception and described the experience as “incredible.” She noted that the fans were an “army” dedicated to AC/DC but not hostile to The Pretty Reckless.
The collaboration between the two bands has created a unique dynamic that extends beyond typical tour partnerships. Loudwire highlighted that Momsen emphasized how touring with AC/DC has been uniquely special. This experience reinforced her profound respect for the band both as a performer and a fan.
Rewind STL documented that despite her extensive career in music, Momsen considers this tour experience to be particularly meaningful. The warning she received about potential audience hostility ultimately proved unfounded. The tour has strengthened both her artistic perspective and her appreciation for AC/DC’s enduring influence on rock music.
The tour has demonstrated how established rock acts can successfully collaborate across generations. The Pretty Reckless found acceptance among AC/DC’s loyal following while gaining valuable insights into live performance excellence from one of rock’s most enduring acts.
