Dolly Parton, a famous country singer, and her husband, Carl Dean, had a very special love story. They loved each other so much, but they kept their life private, so not many people know about it. Carl didn’t like being in front of cameras, so he stayed out of the spotlight. Even though we don’t know all the details, the little bits we hear show they had a love that many people wish for.
A friend of Dolly and Carl recently talked to a magazine called Closer Weekly about their life together, especially their last days. Carl passed away this month, and the friend shared a sweet promise Dolly made to him. She told Carl, “I’ll see you again.” Dolly wanted Carl to feel calm and happy in his final moments.
We don’t know exactly why Carl passed away, but the friend said he had been sick with a disease called Alzheimer’s for a few years. This illness made it hard for him to remember things. Even so, Dolly stayed by his side as much as she could. She spent a lot of time with him, especially near the end. The friend said that when Dolly walked into the room, Carl’s eyes would still shine with happiness. It was very hard for Dolly to see him so sick, but she didn’t want him to feel scared or alone.
Dolly’s team shared the sad news on social media on March 3. They wrote, “Carl Dean, Dolly Parton’s husband, passed away on March 3 in Nashville. He was 82 years old. There will be a small funeral with just his close family. He leaves behind his siblings, Sandra and Donnie.” They asked people to be kind and give the family privacy. Dolly also added her own words in the message. She said, “Carl and I had many wonderful years together. I can’t find the right words to explain our love after more than 60 years. Thank you for your prayers and kind thoughts.”
Dolly and Carl met a long time ago on her very first day in Nashville. They liked each other right away, and that meeting turned into a love that lasted over 60 years. Their love even helped Dolly write some of her best songs. Even though Carl is gone now, their story shows how strong and beautiful their love was.
