Beyoncé and Jay-Z have been in a relationship for over 20 years, which appears to be as solid as it gets. They married in 2008, have three children together, and have come out the other side of infidelity. No matter what battles they face, they always seem to handle them.
Still, that doesn’t mean Bey isn’t embarrassed about certain things with her husband. In 2013, she released her self-titled album, containing a sexually explicit song titled ‘Partition’. Due to her honesty, she didn’t want Jay to hear it at first.
“It takes me back to being in my car as a teenager,” she said in her Liberation documentary. “It takes me back to when me and my husband first meet, and he tries to scoop me and he thinks I’m the hottest thing in the world. I kinda had this whole fantasy of being in the car, and this whole movie played in my head.
“I didn’t have a pen and paper. I got to the mic, I’m like, ‘Oh, press record.’ I was so embarrassed after I recorded the song because I’m just talking shit. I’m like, ‘I can’t play this for my husband!’ I still haven’t played it for my mum. She’s going to be very mad at me.”
Listening to the lyrics in ‘Partition’, it’s no wonder she initially wanted to hide it from Jay-Z. In the second verse, Beyoncé mentions being on her knees in front of her husband, suggesting fellatio. She talks about Hov getting sexually aroused from her actions, leading him to ejaculation.
She sings in the verse, “Driver, roll up the partition, please/ I don’t need you seein’ ‘Yoncé on her knees/ Took 45 minutes to get all dressed up/ We ain’t even gonna make it to this club/ Now my mascara runnin’, red lipstick smudged/ Oh, he so horny, yeah, he want to fuck/ He popped all my buttons and he ripped my blouse/ He Monica Lewinsky’d all on my gown.”
Eventually, Jay-Z heard the song and even starred in the music video. Crazy Horse, the Parisian cabaret and strip club, inspired the video, which finds Beyoncé dancing on stage while Hov watches and smokes a cigar.
“The day that I got engaged was my husband’s birthday and I took him to Crazy Horse and I remember thinking, ‘Damn, these girls are fly,’ ” Bey said. “I just thought it was the ultimate sexy show I’ve ever seen. And I was like, ‘I wish I was up there. I wish I could perform that for my man,’ so that’s what I did for the video.”
She continued, “I was very aware of the fact that I was showing my body. I was 195 lbs. when I gave birth. I lost 65 lbs. I worked crazily to get my body back. I wanted to show my body. I wanted to show that you can have a child and you can work hard and you can get your body back. Just because you become a mother, it doesn’t mean you lose who you are.”
