SUSAN Boyle has revealed her sadness following the tragic death of her sister, admitting she needed to “take a step back” as she struggled with her grief.
The star decided to audition for Britain’s Got Talent following the death of her beloved mother, but she was hit with more heartbreak last year as she lost her sister, Brigid ‘Bridie’ McCaw.
The singer has had a troubled few years since soaring into the limelight on the show, and despite a hugely successful career, she’s suffered ridicule and even a public airport meltdown.
Speaking out about how her sibling’s death impacted her, Susan told Best magazine: “It was very hard. Bridie was such a beautiful person, and very supportive of me.
“She was a great loss to me and the family.”
She added: “After she passed, I felt I had to take a step back, to find where I was going. I needed to take stock.”
However, she was also keen to prove to herself that she could do it, and admitted she’s proud of what she’s achieved.
Setting out her Christmas plans, Susan revealed she’d be spending the festive season with friends and family, as she “loves” being around children at this time of year.
The star admitted she’s relied a lot of her faith in the past, and she’s now looking forward to midnight Mass next month.
The star was reportedly in a heated disagreement with a member of staff at the time, and speaking later about the incident, Susan said it was due to her suffering from Asperger’s Syndrome.
“I was very frightened – it was badly handled,” she told The Scottish Sun at the time.
