A rare piece of hip-hop history has resurfaced — the original tracklist for The Notorious B.I.G.’s legendary Life After Death album has been uncovered, revealing unreleased songs and surprise collaborations fans have never heard before.
The tracklist, shared by the Instagram account 92 Bricks, comes from a January 1997 listening party for the iconic project, which was originally titled Life After Death… Til Death Do Us Part.
Unlike the final version of the album, which included 24 songs, the original list featured 28 tracks—although one song appeared twice, suggesting there may have only been 27 planned songs, possibly due to a printing error.
What really caught fans’ attention are five previously unreleased tracks, including:
- “Once Upon a Time” featuring Fat Joe
- “Stayin’ Alive”
- Three untitled songs produced by RZA, Easy Mo Bee, and DJ Clark Kent
Another notable mention is a track called “Spanish Fly,” which may have been an early version of the song later released by Black Rob on his 2000 album Life Story.
Interestingly, several final tracks from Life After Death were listed under different names in the original version:
- “Comin’ Out” (featuring Ma$e) became the hit “Mo Money Mo Problems”
- “Bones Track” turned into “Notorious Thugs” with Bone Thugs-N-Harmony
- “Mo Bounce” later became “Going Back to Cali”
So far, this tracklist hasn’t been officially confirmed by Biggie’s estate or Bad Boy Records, but it gives fans a fascinating look at what could have been.
Adding even more intrigue, Fat Joe has previously revealed that he and Biggie had planned to make an entire joint album together. In a 2021 Instagram Live session with Timbaland, Joe said they recorded five songs, and much of their content at the time was aimed at rival rapper 2Pac—though those tracks were never released out of respect after both artists passed away.
“He was like, ‘You the Latino don, I’m the Black don,’ and we was in that studio going crazy,” Fat Joe said. “It’s verified by Puff Daddy and everybody.”
