The 2018 CMA Awards had some big surprises, and no one was more shocked than Keith Urban when he won Entertainer of the Year. His eyes got really wide when they called his name!
Keith Urban has been nominated for this big award many times before, but he had only won it once, way back in 2005. After he heard his name, he gave his wife, Nicole Kidman, a big hug and then walked up to the stage.
“I’m so surprised, I can’t believe it,” Keith said, wiping tears from his eyes. He told the crowd that the award was for Nicole (he called her “Baby Girl”) and their two kids. He also thanked a lot of people who help him with his music.
Keith said, “I have so many people to thank. I wish I had more time to say all their names. Most of all, I thank God for all the good things in my life. I wish my dad could be here to see this, but I think he’s watching from heaven tonight.”
He finished by saying, “I feel so lucky and happy that I get to make music. Thank you to everyone who came to the show. God bless country music and all of you!”
Earlier that year, Keith made his ninth album called “Graffiti U.” He went on a tour to play those songs, and lots of people came to see him, even filling up a huge place called Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.
