The BBC has just dropped the first official trailer for its deeply personal new documentary, Sharon & Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home. The one-hour special offers a heartfelt look into what’s being described as the “last chapter” of Ozzy Osbourne’s life.
Set to premiere on October 2 on BBC One and iPlayer, the film follows the legendary Black Sabbath frontman through the final three years of his journey. With “unique and intimate access” to the Osbourne family, the cameras capture Ozzy’s struggles with his health, his unwavering sense of humor, and his determination to get back on stage for one last performance.
In one of the most moving moments from the trailer, his daughter Kelly admits that the family had to come to terms with the truth: “Iron Man wasn’t really made of iron.”
Executive producers Ben Wicks and Colin Barr called it a privilege to tell this story. “Ozzy wanted to return to the U.K. and appear on stage one final time. This film is both inspiring and deeply emotional—it’s the story of a man chasing his dream despite everything. Millions loved Ozzy for his music and his mischief, but what stood out to us most was his love for his family, who were there for him every step of the way.”
Clare Sillery, the BBC’s head of documentaries, echoed that sentiment. “It’s an honor to share this intimate film with Ozzy and his family. It captures laughter, reflection, and the unshakable spirit that made him a global icon. We hope it gives comfort and joy to fans as they celebrate his extraordinary life.”
The project was originally planned as a multi-part series called Home to Roost, but as Ozzy’s health worsened, it was reworked into a single, powerful film. Originally slated for August 18, its release was postponed at the family’s request until they were ready for the world to see it.
Now, with a new air date locked in, Coming Home stands as the definitive, family-approved portrait of Ozzy Osbourne’s final years—a story of grit, love, and one last chance to say goodbye on his own terms.
