The next Stevie Wonder might have just revealed himself on national TV.
In the latest episode of NBC’s hit show The Voice, contestant Max Chambers stunned the coaches, audience and viewers at home as he belted out the music icon’s famous song “Don’t You Worry ‘Bout a Thing” during the Knockout Round.
The Shreveport, Louisiana student, 14, came in to do battle with fellow Team Bublé member Max Cooper III, who also wowed with a cover of Djo’s “End of Beginning.” Chambers proceeded to blow everyone away, however, with his soulful cover of Wonder’s 1972 classic.
As the Monday, Nov. 3 episode revealed, the young contestant’s cover even had Snoop Dogg jumping out of his seat. It’s no surprise, therefore, that Chambers was ultimately honored with the show’s first-ever Mic Drop award. Check out his jaw-dropping performance in the clip below.
The Mic Drop honor was introduced for season 28 of The Voice. Each coach is allowed to select one of their acts for the honor bestowed on a performance that is simply undeniable, Billboard reports. For the Knockout Rounds, there are no Saves or Steals, so only the winning artist moves on to the Playoffs.
After the “Droppers” are selected, fans at home get to vote on which of them will represent the show at the coveted Rose Parade on Jan. 1, 2026. Voting for the Mic Drop winner will take place during the Nov. 24 episode, Billboard also noted on Tuesday, Nov. 4.

“Max, for my money, is a frontrunner to win The Voice this year,” said coach Michael Bublé on Monday’s episode. “He could be the youngest winner in Voice history. I really think that Max Chambers could be the reason I am a three-peat winner.”
This season, Rock & Roll Hall of Famer and multi-Grammy Award-winning Joe Walsh and Grammy Award-winning multi-hyphenate Zac Brown are serving as the Mega Mentors.
