Ronan Keating stops Tesco shoppers in their tracks with surprise in-store performance

In a moment that left customers wide-eyed and reaching for their phones, Ronan Keating delivered a heartwarming surprise acoustic set inside a Tesco store in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire on Monday, 15 January.

The former Boyzone star, now 46, was seen strumming his guitar and serenading unsuspecting shoppers with some of his biggest hits, including his iconic debut solo single “When You Say Nothing At All”, in celebration of the song’s 25th anniversary. The impromptu performance also featured fan favourites like “Life is a Rollercoaster” and “Lovin’ Each Day”.

In a casual yet charming moment, Keating even took song requests from customers, making the surprise feel intimate and personal for those lucky enough to witness it.

This marked Keating’s first day as the “Roaming Ambassador” for Tesco Mobile, a new role that will see the Irish singer travel across the UK to delight fans with unexpected musical appearances. While Tesco shoppers are usually focused on their weekly groceries, this Monday turned out to be far from ordinary.

Keating, who has spent over two decades in the spotlight, shared his excitement about the campaign and hinted that more surprise performances are on the horizon.

“It’s such a joy to celebrate this milestone with the fans in such an unexpected way,” Keating said. “It’s not every day you get to turn a grocery run into a concert.”

Shoppers quickly took to social media to express their disbelief and excitement, with videos of the performance going viral within hours. Some described it as the “highlight of their year,” while others jokingly vowed to shop at Tesco more often in hopes of catching his next gig.

From chart-topping boyband member to solo success and now roaming musical ambassador, Ronan Keating continues to prove that life really is a rollercoaster — and Tesco shoppers are now along for the ride.
