Ronan Keating says Boyzone tour would be ‘unhealthy’ as he reveals previous reunion shows were a ‘toxic environment’ and they had a ‘huge blow up’

Ronan Keating has spoken candidly about why Boyzone will not be embarking on a full-scale reunion tour, revealing that previous comeback shows created a “toxic” and emotionally draining environment for the band.

The Irish singer explained that while Boyzone are set to perform two special shows at London’s Emirates Stadium, these concerts are intended as a final celebration rather than the start of a lengthy tour. According to Keating, committing to months on the road together would be “incredibly unhealthy” for the group at this stage of their lives.

Reflecting on earlier reunions, Keating admitted that tensions within the band often ran high. He recalled one particular incident during a previous tour where a major argument erupted backstage, leading to members travelling home on separate flights. The experience, he said, highlighted how fragile the group dynamic could become under pressure.

Despite their shared history and chart-topping success, Keating made it clear that Boyzone have no plans to record new music or return as a fully active band. Instead, the upcoming shows will serve as a respectful farewell, allowing fans to celebrate the band’s legacy without reopening old wounds.

Boyzone, formed in 1993, rose to fame with a string of number-one hits and became one of the most successful pop groups of the 1990s. While their music continues to resonate with fans worldwide, Keating’s comments underline that some chapters are best left closed — even when nostalgia calls.
