If there’s one place you don’t want to mess up Eminem’s lyrics, it’s Detroit. But that’s exactly what Justin Bieber did on Sunday night at Joe Louis Arena.
Bieber’s Slip-Up on “Lose Yourself”
While paying tribute to Eminem, the pop star attempted to rap a verse from the legendary track Lose Yourself. However, he flubbed the very first line:
Wrong lyric: “His palms are heavy, knees weak, arms are heavy.”
Correct lyric: “His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy.”
Despite the mistake, the crowd didn’t seem to mind. Fans continued cheering, and Bieber kept his cool, smoothly moving across the stage to finish his performance.
A Detroit Tradition for Bieber
This isn’t the first time Bieber has performed Lose Yourself in Detroit. He also rapped the track in 2009 and 2010, making it a bit of a tradition when visiting Eminem’s hometown.
Tour Bus Incident at the Border
Earlier that day, Bieber’s tour bus was stopped at the U.S.-Canada border when authorities found a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. A drug-sniffing dog alerted officials at the Ambassador Bridge, but Bieber wasn’t on the bus. Only the driver was cited, and the bus was allowed to continue into the U.S. without further issues.
Despite the minor mishap with Eminem’s lyrics, Bieber’s performance went on without a hitch, proving once again that his fans are always ready to forgive and keep the energy alive.
