Yungblud’s new era begins with “Hated,” a haunting song rooted in childhood pain and radical honesty

Yungblud is continuing his “new era” of music as he released his most personal song to date, called “Hated”.

Two days ago, Yungblud (real name Dominic Harrison) took to social media to share his experience of being sexually abused by a doctor when he was seven years old.

The track comes alongside a bold and powerful music video directed by Sandeep & Chadrick. It also arrives in partnership with the American Society for the Positive Care of Children, a nonprofit dedicated to preventing and raising awareness of child maltreatment and the lasting trauma born from neglect and abuse.

The lyrics of the song also recall his rise in popularity whilst exploring how he realised he had “made it” when he started to see people “hate” him. He also talks about how he struggles to present himself authentically, without getting his loved ones swept into the hate of him being perceived as “posh, queer-baiting, indulgent arsehole.”

Never mind what the haters say, Harrison is releasing killer music as authentic to himself as he can be, whilst creating a safe space for other outcasts or those who have gone through similar experiences to come together.

“Hated” follows directly on the heels of his previous single “Lowlife”.
