Kelly Osbourne has opened up about her deeply strained relationship with her older sister Aimee, revealing why the siblings remain estranged and making it clear that she sees no realistic path toward reconciliation.
Speaking on Paul C. Brunson’s We Need to Talk podcast, Kelly, 41, gave a rare and candid account of the complicated relationship she has had with Aimee, 43. The sisters have been distant for years, but Kelly’s latest comments make clear just how painful the situation has been for her.
“We’re not close,” Kelly said, explaining that growing up, she often felt that Aimee did not acknowledge her or their younger brother, Jack Osbourne. According to Kelly, it was frequently just her and Jack, while Aimee remained in her own world.
Kelly also admitted that she sometimes felt her older sister was embarrassed by the family.
“I’ll never really, truly understand,” she said, while acknowledging that she could not speak for Aimee or fully know what motivated her decisions. Instead, Kelly said that was simply how the situation felt from her perspective.
The sisters have always taken very different approaches to life in the public eye. Aimee famously refused to appear on the family’s MTV reality series The Osbournes, which ran from 2002 to 2005. She moved out of the family home at just 16 because she did not want her private life filmed and chose to pursue her own identity away from the reality-TV spotlight.
For Kelly, however, the distance between them has represented something much more personal.
She described herself and Aimee as “polar opposite,” comparing their personalities to “oil and water.” Kelly went on to say that one of the hardest things in her life has been feeling that she never had the kind of older sister relationship she needed.
“I never got a big sister,” Kelly explained, adding that she had to learn certain things on her own that she believed an older sister might normally have taught her. She also admitted that she still carries resentment over the relationship — something she believes will remain with her.
When Brunson asked whether there was any possibility of the sisters eventually repairing their relationship, Kelly gave an unequivocal answer.
“No, no,” she said.
Kelly stressed that she does respect and accept Aimee as a person, but she believes that acceptance has to work both ways. She explained that she does not want someone in her life who continually tries to change her, says hurtful things about her or appears to take satisfaction when she is struggling.
Her comments come during an especially emotional period for the Osbourne family following the death of Ozzy Osbourne in July 2025. Aimee and Kelly have both appeared publicly with their family since then, including Aimee’s rare appearance at the 2026 Grammy Awards for a tribute to their father.
Yet despite those shared family moments, Kelly’s latest revelation suggests that the underlying divide between the sisters remains.
For Kelly, accepting that they may never have the close sibling bond she once wanted appears to be part of protecting herself and moving forward.
After years of complicated family dynamics, she now seems to have drawn a firm line — and made it clear that, for her, reconciliation is no longer on the table.
