Who is Kavi Nyx? Little-known facts about the singer whose The Voice exit sparked fan outrage

Kavi Nyx may be out of The Voice Season 30, but the Atlanta singer is already giving fans a reason to look forward to her next chapter. Her elimination from the Battle Round left many viewers questioning Kelly Clarkson’s decision, while others wondered why none of the remaining coaches used a Steal to keep her in the competition.

he 18-year-old singer faced 14-year-old Brooklyn Marie during the October 26 episode. Both artists are members of Team Kelly, and their performance of Sia’s hit Titanium gave the coaches two very different vocal styles to consider. While Brooklyn impressed with her clear tone and high notes, Kavi stood out for her distinctive sound, vocal runs, and Indian musical influences.

“You’re both the most unique singers on my team,” Kelly told the pair before making her decision. “You have a quality to you that’s unlike anyone else in the competition.”

Kelly ultimately chose Brooklyn to advance, ending Kavi’s journey on the show. However, the decision sparked a wave of criticism online, with many viewers arguing that Kavi deserved another chance. Fans were particularly surprised that Adam Levine, Riley Green, and Queen Latifah did not use their Steal options to save her.

“Kelly you messed that one up – KAVI should have won that battle !!” one viewer commented. Another wrote, “Kavi was robbed we’re in shock on the couch rn.” A third fan questioned why nobody saved her, saying the season would have been more intriguing with Kavi’s unique voice and singing style.

Not everyone agreed with the criticism. Some viewers believed Brooklyn delivered the stronger performance, pointing to her pitch, control, and smooth high notes. One fan explained that while Kavi had impressive vocal runs, Brooklyn sounded clearer and more controlled during the Battle. Others praised both singers and wished them success beyond the competition.

Kavi’s distinctive style had already made her a memorable contestant before the Battle Round. Her Blind Audition of Billie Eilish’s Wildflower earned chair turns from Kelly, Adam, and Riley. Adam praised the way she brought Indian influences into the song, while Kelly called her performance “purposeful and so beautiful.” Kavi ultimately joined Team Kelly, a choice she said she had been considering for some time.

But her musical journey began long before she appeared on television.

Kavi’s real name is Sanjana Santhosh, and she grew up in the Atlanta area. She began learning Carnatic music, a traditional form of South Indian classical music, at age five after her grandmother noticed her interest in devotional songs. She has since developed a style that blends pop with elements of her Indian musical background.

Kavi is also more than a singer. She writes and produces music, dances, and teaches piano and singing to younger children, including children with special needs. She has trained at VSharp Gurukulam, a performing arts school in Dallas, and has performed with VSharp the Band. In 2023, she won a singing competition organized by the Atlanta Tamil Mandram during its Deepavali celebrations.

Her original music has also given fans a glimpse of her personality beyond The Voice. In April 2026, Kavi released her debut single, Speak Up, through VSharp Records. The song explores finding the courage to express yourself instead of staying silent to avoid conflict.

“I hope this song reminds people that their voice matters and that they shouldn’t be afraid to use it,” Kavi said when the single was released.

Now, the singer is preparing to take another step in her music career. Just days after her elimination, Kavi announced on Instagram that her next single, Immaturity, will arrive on November 2. She also encouraged fans to presave the track through the link in her bio.

The announcement quickly attracted supportive messages from listeners who are eager to hear what she does next. One follower wrote, “The title alone has me intrigued,” while another declared, “Kavi Nyx, we’re SO ready for this next chapter!” A third fan called her their “absolute favorite singer on The Voice.”

The response to her elimination also showed how strongly some viewers connected with her musical identity. One fan praised her vocal runs and note choices, saying, “To me Kavi is so unique and stands out.”

Although some viewers disagreed over the Battle result, many shared a similar hope: that Kavi would continue releasing music and developing her sound outside the competition.

With Immaturity scheduled for November 2, Kavi is moving forward just days after her time on The Voice came to an end. Her elimination may have disappointed a large section of the audience, but the attention surrounding her next release suggests that her musical journey is far from over.
