Redman’s long-awaited album Muddy Waters Too is getting major love from rap royalty — including none other than Eminem. The New Jersey rap legend revealed that Eminem was so impressed by the album, the two spent three hours texting non-stop as Em shared his excitement track by track.
Eminem Was Blown Away by Every Song
In an interview with Ambrosia For Heads alongside Xzibit, Redman opened up about Eminem’s enthusiastic reaction to his latest project.
“Me and [Eminem] were texting for three hours one day while I was in the gym, while I went to this appointment,” Redman said. “He was actually listening to the album, texting me after each song — for three hours straight!”
Redman added, “That’s my young bruh. Em, you already know you my young bruh. It was amazing ’cause he was like, ‘Yo, you said this! Oh, I quit.’ He gave me so much energy.”
Xzibit Also Showed Love for Muddy Waters Too
Redman also shared that Xzibit praised the album, telling him he was staying true to his classic sound — a key reason fans have embraced the sequel to the original Muddy Waters.
“X was like, ‘Yo bro, that’s what I’m talking about!’” Redman said. “In other words, you’re sticking to your sound — that’s what wins.”
Eminem Has Always Shown Love to Redman
Eminem has long considered Redman one of his favorite rappers of all time. When Muddy Waters Too dropped in December, Em hyped it up on social media, calling Redman one of his GOATs:
“One of my all-time favorite rappers [GOAT emojis] … man I been waiting for this @therealredman #muddywaters,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
Fans might also remember Eminem’s shoutout to Redman on his 2002 hit “’Till I Collapse”, where he ranked him first on his list of greatest MCs:
“It goes: Reggie, JAY-Z, 2Pac and Biggie…”
Em Even Wore Redman’s Merch — and Redman Took Notice
In 2023, Eminem was spotted wearing a “IT GOES REGGIE” T-shirt, a reference to his famous lyrics. Redman, who teamed up with NYC-based skate shop Richmond Hood to sell the shirt, proudly shared the moment on Instagram:
“My Young Bro @eminem stay Repping and got his IT GOES REGGIE TEE! ONLY at www.Richmondhood.com. If it ain’t got the Yellow Tag it’s a FAKE!!”
A Rare But Respected Connection
Though they haven’t collaborated often, Eminem and Redman previously teamed up on the 2000 track “Off the Wall”, featured on the Nutty Professor II soundtrack.
Despite the limited collabs, their mutual respect runs deep — and Muddy Waters Too proves that Redman’s legacy is as strong as ever.
