Queen, the famous rock band, is on a big tour in Europe right now with their singer Adam Lambert. They already played some huge shows in the UK during May and June, and people loved it!
Last night, on July 10, they performed at the Unipol Arena in a town called Casalecchio di Reno, near Bologna, Italy. They did something really special there. Since Italy is where opera music started, they decided to sing a beautiful opera song called “Nessun dorma.” This song comes from a play called Turandot, written by a man named Puccini. It’s one of the most famous opera tunes ever!
A long time ago, in 1990, a singer named Luciano Pavarotti sang “Nessun dorma” on TV during the FIFA World Cup in Italy, and it became super popular. So, when Queen and Adam Lambert sang it in Bologna, it was a perfect fit. A fan account on Twitter shared the moment and said, “Adam Lambert and Queen performed ‘Nessun dorma’ in Bologna tonight! It was an amazing surprise! Adam is beyond stunning.” Everyone thought it was incredible!
Tonight, July 11, they’ll play at the same arena again. Then, on Wednesday, they’ll head to Paris, France, to perform at the Accor Arena as part of their Rhapsody Tour.
Queen has been making music for a long time. Their original singer, Freddie Mercury, passed away in 1991, which was very sad. After that, they kept playing shows with different singers. From 2004 to 2009, a singer named Paul Rodgers joined them, and they even made an album called The Cosmos Rocks in 2008. Since 2011, Adam Lambert, who was on the TV show American Idol, has been singing with them. They’ve been in the studio together, but they haven’t made a new album yet.
This tour shows how Queen and Adam Lambert keep bringing awesome music to fans all over the world!
