Lizzo speaks out about White House’s controversial social media posts

‘About Damn Time’ vocalist Lizzo recently went on a social media rant on Bluesky, one of the new alternatives to X, and addressed some of the controversial comments made by the White House on social media. She also insisted that America needs “real change.”

The singer is extremely political and recently performed on Saturday Night Live with a t-shirt reading “TARIFFIED.” Furthermore, during Kamala Harris’ 2024 presidential campaign, she made some appearances encouraging people to vote. However, her efforts were futile.

That said, during her Bluesky rant, Lizzo explained how she believes “real change” can be achieved in the US. Taking to social media, she began, “I want real change, and I know what it takes to see real change on a systemic level.”

The singer continued, “Protests bring attention to demands. Marches without demands bear no fruit. Demands without a plan or an ultimatum aren’t threatening to any regime.” Lizzo then began speaking about race.

Speaking about oppression, Lizzo wrote, “This system was built by white people to their economic benefit. The corruption happening today is white supremacy. It cannot be destroyed from the outside. White people have to come together & educate themselves on the system & be willing to be uncomfortable in it. Unify.”

Following her uplifting message, Lizzo then decided to launch a tirade against Donald Trump, for whom she has declared her hatred on a number of occasions. Writing in all-caps, she bagn, “THE WHITE HOUSE IS USING SOCIAL MEDIA TO TROLL US!”

She continued, “THE PRESIDENT DGAF ABOUT TONE POLICING HIMSELF. REPUBLICANS ARE TALKING OUT THEY NECKLACE TO JOURNALISTS. WE HAVE TO BE BOLDER.”

Lizzo recently announced that she will be releasing a new album this year after a long break. Entitled Love In Real Life, it will be the vocalist’s first project since her critically acclaimed 2022 album, Special.
