A decade after Britain’s Got Talent launched her improbable global pop career, Susan Boyle was back for an encore run through the Les Miserables anthem “I Dreamed a Dream” on Wednesday night’s (Aug. 21) America’s Got Talent results show. Though Boyle was the runner-up during her run on BGT and only made the top 12 on this year’s AGT: The Champions, her longtime number one supporter, AGT judge Simon Cowell, was thrilled to have her back in the fold.

“It felt like 10 minutes ago, the world fell in love with Susan Boyle and hated my guts,” Cowell said before Boyle sang. Backed by a spinning spotlight, Boyle opened the soaring ballad standing alone center stage in a long, glittery dress amid a field of electrified lights that swirled around her as the song rose to a crescendo.

A montage of Boyle’s original run on the show and Cowell’s encouraging words flashed on the screen behind her as the song shrunk back down to a whisper and confetti fell, earning a standing ovation from the AGT judges. Boyle’s new 17-track greatest hits album, 10, was released in May.
