The Gibb family is full of amazing singers and musicians. The Bee Gees—Barry, Robin, and Maurice—were super famous and made music that people still love today. But the talent didn’t stop with them. Maurice’s daughter, Samantha Gibb, who is 34 years old, showed everyone how special she is when she sang with her uncle Barry on stage.
On May 19, 2014, at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Samantha and Barry sang a beautiful song together called “How Can You Mend a Broken Heart?” It’s a classic Bee Gees song that Maurice loved. Before they started, Barry gave Samantha a big hug and said, “We’re going to sing a song that we love, and it was one of her dad’s favorites too. We hope you enjoy it.” You could tell it meant a lot to them.
First, Samantha sang a song called “The End of the World” all by herself. It’s a sad song about missing someone you love, and she sang it with so much feeling. Her voice was strong and smooth, a little like her dad’s, but with her own special style. Then, Barry joined her for “How Can You Mend a Broken Heart?” The words of the song are about feeling sad and remembering good times, and it felt extra special because they were thinking of Maurice.
Samantha sang the second part of the song on her own, and her voice was full of heart. Then she and Barry sang together, their voices mixing perfectly. It was a sweet way to remember Maurice, and it reminded people of a big Bee Gees show from 2001. Watching them sing was like seeing a family sharing their love for music and each other!
