In the wild new video for “Last Dance With Mary Jane,” the latest single from the Missionary album, Dr. Dre delivers a sobering moment to his longtime friend and collaborator: “You’ve smoked enough for a lifetime.” Snoop, as expected, doesn’t take that lightly — and what follows is a psychedelic, smoke-filled trip through his relationship with marijuana, music, and mortality.
Directed by Dave Meyers, the video blurs fantasy and reality. It features visual effects that bring the late Tom Petty back to life — not only through a sample of his iconic “Mary Jane’s Last Dance,” but also as a spectral presence in the video. His vocals and harmonica float through the track like ghostly whispers.
Also making an appearance is Jelly Roll, who shows up in a gritty prison yard sequence. Animated cameos from Bob Marley, Tupac Shakur, Redman, Method Man, B-Real, and Wiz Khalifa deepen the visual chaos and cultural weight of the video.
Despite its trippy visuals, the video carries a serious undertone: a love letter to cannabis — but also a warning. Between the dream sequences and spiritual encounters, it’s clear that Snoop is confronting the consequences of his legendary habits.
