Dr. Dre recently joined Kevin Hart on his popular Peacock talk show Hart to Heart — and he didn’t hold back when talking about his legendary career, including his thoughts on working with Eminem and Snoop Dogg.
The seven-time Grammy-winning producer and rap icon reflected on some of the most memorable collaborations in his career and shared how rare it is for someone to truly impress him from the very start.
“I’ve collaborated with some of the smartest and most talented motherf—ers to ever step into a studio,” Dre told Hart.
“But the **only person I ever heard on a demo tape who blew me away and I really f—ked with in the studio — was Eminem.”
Eminem Was the Standout From Day One
Dr. Dre explained that most of his music partnerships happened through word of mouth, but Eminem was the rare exception — an artist who stood out from the very first listen.
“Everything else came from someone saying, ‘Yo, you gotta hear this guy.’ That’s how I met Snoop, too.”
Snoop Dogg Didn’t Even Know Song Structure at First
Speaking about his first time working with Snoop Dogg, Dre recalled that the now-iconic rapper wasn’t even familiar with how to structure a song when they met.
“He came in and started rapping. He didn’t even know what song structure was back then. I think D.O.C. taught him how to do that s–t. It just all came together naturally.”
Dr. Dre’s comments offered fans a rare, inside look into the early studio sessions that helped shape some of hip-hop’s most legendary careers.
